Ok lah, enuff of blogging about the market (the financial one at least) over the past 2 nights. Today, Mr MH wishes to talk about another market (pun intended)!
The market to buy ingredients to cook! Wahahaha.... 🤣

Although we are all busy pple, still need to look after our diet, right? So I wanna focus on the "H" in MoneyandHealth, i.e. Health! Let's eat healthy! 🥰

If Papa MH can cook, so can you! Here goes Papa MH's secret recipe of:
Herbal chicken soup with button mushroom and black fungus infused with red dates and wolfberries (枸杞子).
● Stir fried ('dou miao' 豆苗) with garlic and sliced carrot topped with fried silver fish.
● Fragrant mixed brown rice
A step-by-step recipe below! All in less than 1.5 hours, you (Papas included) can do it too! 😉

Herbal chicken soup with button mushroom and black fungus infused with red dates & wolfberries:
1) Boil ~1.5L of water (about 3 big soup bowls for those of U who have no agar-ration) in a soup pot. Add herbal chicken ingredients to cook.
2) Remove skin of 4 chicken thighs (can add more if U are cooking for more pple) and chop up the chicken at the joints.
3) Put chicken thigh into soup to cook. Remove top layer of oil from the chicken. Notice I did NOT add any cooking oil.
4) Soak about 10 red dates and some black fungus (both are good for the ladies to (补血, replenish the blood 😊) in 2 different bowls of hot water for ~15mins to remove the sediments from the red dates and sulphite smell from black fungus and to soften both of them.
5) Slice up the red dates and cut the hard base of black fungus. Add them to the soup to cook for as long as possible to infuse the red dates taste into soup and make the black fungus crunchy.
6) Wash the button mushroom and cut into halves before adding it to soup.
7) Wash wolfberries and drain away the sediments/seeds before adding the wolfberries to soup.
8) Cook soup for about 1 hour and Wala!

Stir fried pea sprouts ('dou miao' 豆苗) with garlic and sliced carrot topped with fried silver fish:
1) Wash Dou Miao thoroughly and drain away the water. Repeat at least twice.
2) Shave off the skin of 2 carrots and chop them up into thin slices.
3) Add ~5 spoons of corn starch to about 100ml of hot water then add some vegetarian/oyster sauce and a dash of white sesame oil. Stir evenly into a gravy mixture for frying the Dou Miao later.
4) Heat up the wok until U see steam coming out from the surface.
5) Add some garlic and oil into the wok slowly and from as low as possible (to prevent spurting onto those of U who are scared of oil spurts).
6) Add sliced carrots and Stir fry with the garlic for about 1 min or until U smell the aroma throughout the house!
7) Drain and add the washed Dou Miao into the wok, stir fry evenly quickly.
8) Cover the wok with the cover for ~3 mins.
9) Uncover and stir fry before covering for another 3 mins.
10) Uncover and stir fry evenly again before adding some fried silver fish as topping and Wala!
